Summer is almost over so let’s recap the hottest insta-moments shared of these fabulous, familiar faces of women rocking their shine and giving us pure goals!
1. Serena Williams Can Break My Internet Any Day – Have a Seat (several) Kim K.
She can do no wrong. Here she is in all her splendor, posing fiercely for the cover of New York Magazine. The photoshoot was to promote Serena’s Signature Statement Spring 2015 clothing line as she wants to transition from tennis into a career in fashion (sign me up, she wins). “
Her 16-year run is, in the words of Sports Illustrated, “One of the most sustained careers of excellence in the history of athletics.” She is on top of the world, a serious contender for the greatest athlete of her generation” – NYMag
2. Misty Copeland Looking SuperFab Breaking the Ballet Color Barrier
This summer she was named a principal dancer at the American Ballet Theater (ABT) at age 32. The theater is over 70 years old. She joins principals of color, Arthur Mitchell of the NYC ballet and Lauren Anderson of the Houston Ballet. The only other black principal employed by the ABT was Desmond Richardson in 1997.
There has never been a Misty Copeland and there will never be another Misty Copeland, shattering the white “Swan Lake” perception of grace and beauty of ballerinas. There is a glimmer of hope for black female dominance, beauty and excellence in all forms of art, sport, entertainment and academia and I salute Misty, but these statistics are disheartening. I am both overjoyed and disgusted.
3. Bey Making History Once Again As The First Black Singer To Appear On The September Cover of US Vogue- StyleWatch.
It’s only the third time a black woman has graced the coveted September cover – which is kind of like a big deal!
4. Ciara Giving Us All #Mommygoals and Loads of #Fitlife Inspiration on the Cover of Shape Magazine.
Wanna get like CiCi and lose over 60lbs in four months ( girl crushing now and forever)? She credits an intense workout regime including three-a-day workouts, very clean diet, drinking tons of water and at least one hour of plyometric cardio (including boxing routines) daily.
5. Kerry Washington on The Cover of Self Magazine is a No-Brainer
She has everything in check always- motherhood, career and her post-pregnancy figure! She works out six days a week and even got a small gym built at the Scandal set. Talk about boss moves ! Her bounce back is amazing! This issue is a must read as the uber private Washington, opens up about how she balances it all as a mom, wife and working woman.
“I have to take care of myself in order to live life the way I want to,”Washington explained. “It’s important to have rest days. But in the long run, if I don’t work out for, like, three days, I feel worse, not better.” – Kerry Washington,Self
